Asia Argento grew up in Rome Italy. Her family is a group of actors as is she, herself working in both fields. For Trauma (1993) the actress made her debut with her father, well-known Italian film director Dario Argento (her mother is among his favorite actors, Daria Nicolodi, playing an obese girl on the lookout of her parents' killer. The Phantom of the Opera is the third time she has collaborated together with the director's father. The others are Trauma as well as The Stendhal Syndrome. Giuseppe Piccioni's Condannato a nozze showed Asia's absorption way in performing. The year 1993 saw her played Arianna in Carlo Verdone's Perdiamoci di vista. The role was in which she was so intricate that she earned the David di Donatello award for best actress. Asia began her career in 1994 as a director when she made two short films: Prospettive (1996), documentary about her father and her mother, as well as Abel/Asia (1998) Abel/Asia, a feature about the cult filmmaker Abel Ferrara. The latter won an award from the Rome Film Festival. Asia's feature-length debut was Scarlet Diva (2000) in 1999. She also was the lead actor and wrote the screenplay. Anna Lou was her first born daughter in 2001. After having directed a number of music videos, she welcomed Anna Lou. Asia is also the creator of several short stories published in many famous magazines.
